Lantau 70 enters ATM as HK SuperTrail
We are excited to announce the new entry of Lantau 70 into our 2020 Asia Trail Master Championship series on Saturday, 31 October! Once again organised by the Trail Hub team of Jeremy Ritcey and Valerie Lagarde, the 8th edition of the event will also receive the Hong Kong SuperTrail label following widespread requests from runners after the cancellation of the 9 Dragons Ultra earlier this month.
Lantau 70 has become quite a classic trail race in Hong Kong over the years and always stayed true to its race distance of 70 km. That means it is a typical race that suits runners who prefer the medium distance over the ultra long distance. Everyone who has been to Lantau island (the island where Hong Kong airport is located on) knows that racing there is quite tough, however! The event centre is Mui Wo, which you can reach easily by ferry from Central, Tung Chung and Discovery Bay. This is a daytime race with start envisaged to be at 8:30 am so everyone can enjoy the magnificent vistas along the route. This is also a race where runners are required to be prepared in terms of mandatory gear and hydration. All details for the 2020 edition will be released in due course.
In the context of the Asia Trail Master Championship, all finishers will get 50 bonus points. That means the winners (male/female) walk home with 550 points in the bag. At that point of the Championship season, it could be very important already!
