T7M - Mission IV: Jeff Campbell & Rie Sugaya fastest on the 5k

The second and last 5 km Mission of the week saw SIngapore-based Japanese runner Rie Sugaya edging out her friend Vanja Cnops by six seconds to win this distance in the Cheetah Cup for women. Rie Sugaya is part of the Uglow + A Team. After taking a day of rest yesterday, she clocked 18’46” - more than a minute faster than last Tuesday. Vanja Cnops did not respond to the new best time, she had her day off today. To note was the significant improvement also by France’s Carole Fuchs. Running in Osaka, she ran 19’47” to take fourth place on this distance behind Australia’s Kath Carthy in third with 19’23”.

Jeff Campbell is the fastest 5k runner of these 7 Missions. His time of 15’19” ran two days ago remained the best time. Campbell himself did not improve on it today. Ryan Whelan did a 16’16” yesterday, and also the other protagonists did not massively improve on their times ran on Tuesday, if at all.

The Australian team Imodium is the surprising winner of Mission IV, by 22 seconds over the T8 Kings of Quarantine. The team benefits from a 15-minute elevation bonus, as the fastest three accumulated 532 hm today!

MKRC Boleh retains the lead in the general classification after four missions.
